Dr Van Niekerk studied medicine (MHChB) at the University of Pretoria and did his MMed (Ophthalmology) degree at the University of the Free State (CUM LAUDE)
Chris van Niekerk is an ophthalmic surgeon and is in solo practice since 1990. His experience includes Head of Ophthalmology of the referral centre of the mining industry since 1984 to 1999.
He has done multiple courses in anterior segment surgery locally and internationally. He regularly presides in ophthalmic congresses and has presented multiple surgical training courses for the ophthalmologists. He lectured at the University of Johannesburg for 16 years.
